New Zealand
Dan Blanton
Global Missions is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Blanton as special assignment missionary to New Zealand. His availability to go is a timely answer to prayer. Dan will work with Westside Christian Fellowship in Auckland in the areas of discipleship and evangelism while career missionaries Doug and Danette Beisley are in the United States on home assignment.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dan spent four years in the U.S. military after high school. After leaving the military, he spent a number of years in Texas before returning home to Georgia. It was in 1985 that Dan experienced a rededication of his life to the Lord and began to feel an interest in missions. Currently a member of Town Center Community Church in Marietta, Georgia, he has been actively involved in a number of ministries: domestic and foreign missions outreach, teaching youth and children, and music and drama.
For twenty-two years now, Dan has been quite active in short-term missions, with stints in the Caribbean, Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. For the past eight years, though, Dan’s focus has been on Russia, where he has worked alongside a local church in outreach to orphans and students. It has been his privilege to see many people come to the Lord and to disciple many individuals during that time. As the political climate in Russia has changed, though, Dan has felt the Lord closing the door to long-term service there.
When presented with the opportunity to assist the growing Church of God in New Zealand, Dan began to explore the possibility. He was excited by the idea of ministering to the indigenous people of the South Pacific, and his previous experience with discipleship and outreach fit well with the strategic goals of Westside Christian Fellowship. He is ready to go and make disciples for Christ in this new field of service.
