The 5 Principle Training System
One of the dreams of the Youth Ministry and Youth Network Teams is to be a catalyst to help train youth leaders around the world. The 5 Principle Training System, working with the SHAPE initiative of the Church Of God and including the principles of Spirituality, Vision, Leadership, Knowledge/Culture, and Relational/Connectivity, was developed with the belief that these five principles apply across cultures. In January 2008, the principles were piloted with leaders in Africa. The dream is for this system to be a tool that local, state/provincial, regional, and national leaders everywhere can use. Feel free to use these to teach and train your leaders.

Hiring and Keeping a Youth Worker
A Practical Guide for Hiring with Wisdom
and Keeping Youth Workers for the Long Haul
Hiring a youth worker is a great opportunity for God to do some new and exciting things through the ministry of your church—whether you are filling a vacant position or staffing a youth worker for the very first time. It’s not the occasion to rush things, cut corners, or settle for the first person who comes along. The youth worker, the students, and the whole church will suffer the consequences.
There are some very gifted, passionate, experienced, and theologically grounded youth workers out there. We hope that this resource will be helpful for you and your church in your quest to find the person who is the best fit to lead the youth ministry at your church for a long time to come.
This resource is adapted from Hiring and Keeping a Youth Worker: A Practical Guide for Churches Seeking to Hire with Wisdom and Keep Their Youth Workers for the Long Haul. Used by permission of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Student Ministries.

Help! I'm a Youth Leader!
A Resource Book for Those Who Minister to Teens
This free resource is designed to help youth leaders with a hands-on, experienced-based manual based on more than fifteen years of youth ministry experience compiled into a quick-and-easy-what-would-be-helpful-for-a -youth-leader-to-know resource. It is divided into the following sections:
- First Things First: You and the importance of your leadership
- Your Adult Team of Leaders: How do I get them and what do I look for?
- Your Student Team: Developing a team of student leaders
- Your Vision and Purpose: Knowing where you are going
- Your Students: How do I get them and how do I help them become Christ-centered leaders?
- Logistics: Raising funds, getting church support, permission forms, budgets, and other helpful things to know
- Resources: Where do I find them - how do I stay current?
Forms are included as well so you don't have to recreate them, so that you can spend more time with your students and less time with paperwork. Originally designed with the youth leaders, often volunteer and bi-vocational, in churches under 200, it is also helpful to main youth leaders in churches of all sizes.

It's Here: the Student Leadership Institute Manual!
Young men and women across North American are sensing God's call on their lives and seeking ways to explore and confirm that call. The Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is one venue that state youth leaders have developed to assist high school students in responding to that call. Through national collaborative work the leaders of those SLIs have created a manual to assist each other and to provide guidance and a model for those state youth ministries that are thinking about creating such an Institute.
