Efforts continue to restore the Church of God Web site (www.chog.org) following the critical hardware failure experienced on July 7, 2010. Church of God Ministries has been working with the service provider in an attempt to recover the information, products, and data previously displayed on our Web site.

Over the next few days and weeks, we will rebuild the Web site, restoring the information previously available and posting updated news, information, and materials to support the ministries of the church.

We appreciate your patience in this matter and request your supporting prayers as our IT department works through this challenging issue.

Sorry for the problems the site is experiencing. Hope to revisit later.

Your temporary site: put all the good things, the links, etc. first, not the explanation about how broken it is with all the apologies. I almost closed the window thinking it was not functional until I accidentally discovered that the site really was useful. Put the explanation for the site's failure last.

In the late1980's I had a book called "Hard Disk Management." Inside the fly leaf it had the quote, "There are two kinds of hard disk users: Those who have had a catastrophic failure, and those who will." Welcome to the "Those who have" category. Hopefully most of the content and pages can be recovered successfully. Thanks for your continued efforts, and a great website representing the Church of God.

Would hate to see the camp meeting be dropped, but times have changed. I am not even sure that people care much anymore, even pastors. I have never been to camp meeting there in my life. Cost was not affordable, distance was a problem, when I was working, even mor so now that I'm retired. I really figured too that as a small time pastor, not full time, that I would feel sort of alone. If it's like the G.A meetings I attend, there is always a "clique" of the "big time " ministers. I really wonder if we as ministers are our own worst enemies. Makes you wonder why people leave church totally. Good luck in your endeavors to keep the "light on" in Anderson. I think Anderson college should teach students to use common sense as well as theology.

I feel as a pastor and person who has been in the Church of God movement for my entire 36 years, that this gathering has a great significance. Since every local church congregation really has its own identity and we are not a "denomination", it's important for us as churches to gather at least once a year to remain clear on our vision as a whole movement. Having Anderson Camomeeting today takes a little bit of work on the pastors end to encourage their congregational attendees to attend this event. I did and 3 ladies came. They raved about the services and workshops and couldn't see why we would even entertain the thought of not having this. I even have close to 8 more wanting to attend next year. With the video stream of the evening services, our people were able to see what a service was like. It educated them on a little of what we do there. I think the cost is minimal for as many days as we receive. I can't go on a vacation for less than what it cost me to go to Anderson. The only thing I would see as a HUGE help would be the expense of the hotels and lodging. The hotels have taken advantage of this event and I feel someone from high up needs to have a meeting with the hotel owners in town and explain to them how this hurts bringing in guests. We want every hotel filled and camp spot filled. I'm sorry some feel like there are "cliques" and "big time" ministers. However, I think a lot of those feelings come from not engaging with others while attending the meetings. We must all work together and if we stay the course, the church will get though this transition time. But the consideration of moving the event to other locations, the cost would then become too high for a lot of individuals to attend. Plus, this is our headquarters. I am all about change to move the church forward. But the Church needs to remember where it came from so it can know where it is going. I think some things need to be left alone and where they hold Campmeeting on our first ever COG University needs to remain that way. A lot of our churches are within driving distance there and it makes sense to leave it in Anderson if we have any chance of keeping this vital to our church health! And as far as teaching "theology" at Anderson, as one of our old hymns say "the Bible is our rule of Faith and Christ alone is Lord!"

I am all about keeping the convention in Anderson and keeping it on an annual schedule. As I have observed in several venues - the late Dr. John W. V. Smith pointed out several years ago that this convention is part of the "glue" that holds the movement together. There aren't many things that do and if we continue to "fix" things those that do will be no more. Can we afford that ?
We have gone through a sort of "earthquake" in terms of changing worship styles over the last few years and we seem to have survived that. I thought the introduction of the alternate worship services at the convention this year was a VERY smart idea and I heard a lot of people comment favorably on it. Why introduce another seismic event into the life stream of the CHOG by tinkering with the NAC ?
I saw some new life and energy in this years' convention. How about capitalizing on that rather than contemplating an ill-advised schedule/location change ??!!
Over the years I have been in ministry I have seen a steady drumbeat from some quarters trying to "move the convention around". I really don't think that the vast implications of that have been thoroughly thought through. How many times have we heard the late Robert H. Reardon warn us against this ? In my opinion we need to listen to such wisdom and get busy improving what we have instead of trying to replace it with something untested. Is this another case where "we have to do it so we will know how it works out ?" I surely hope not.
