The presence of the Holy Spirit was felt in a powerful way by those who attended this the 124th North American Convention of the Church of God, June 25–30. As people from across the country and around the world once again gathered in Anderson, Indiana, for the annual event, the fresh wind of the Spirit continued to blow across the church. In a post-convention online survey, 95 percent of respondents indicated they felt the Spirit of the Lord moving during the convention. It was a powerful worship experience, and if you were one of those who were unable to attend, you can still participate.

In spite of the third venue change in recent years, conventioneers seemed to enjoy the return to the traditional convention grounds, with the services held in Reardon Auditorium and at Park Place Church of God. The establishment of the pedestrian mall on Fifth Street was a welcomed addition to the convention experience, creating a gathering point for people to fellowship with one another.

But the true impact of the convention was felt during the times of prayer, worship, and celebration. Through the various speakers and conferences, the church was called to “Transform Culture by Being the Body of Christ.” Each evening’s service and each day’s conferences focused on the five Strategic Values as a means for the church to return to biblical principles that lead to transformation.

Newcomers and longtime conventioneers commented on their positive worship and fellowship experiences provided at this year’s convention:

“This was my first time going, and I experienced more than what I was searching for—good [sic] praising Jesus, fellowship with all, freedom, peace,” responded one person to the online survey. “Thank you so much for giving me a bigger vision for worshiping in Jesus’ name.”

Another person responder commented: “Great worship and fellowship. I had not been to the convention for a number of years, but it was a great improvement over the last time I was there. I am going to recommend that people in our church and state attend next year.”

“This year’s convention has been a wonderful time for worship, fellowship, and spiritual growth as we sought to transform our culture by being the body of Christ,” said Dr. Ronald Duncan, general director of Church of God Ministries. “It was truly a blessing to gather together with our church family. And as each returns home they must carry the message of transformation through Christ back to our churches and communities.

If you could not attend, you can still enjoy the convention experience by reading the NACroundup or by watching the archived streaming videos of the evening services, General Assembly sessions, and town hall meetings.

Please don't stop having the NAC at Anderson. To me that convention is a BIG part of the church.

I started going to "Anderson Camp Meeting" when I was a very young child. My sister and I would return empty pop to the lunch stand for a reward of two or three cents. The services would be in the wooden tabernacle and we would listen to "Sister Cotton" in her all white outfit sing "I'll fly away".
My sister and I both are graduates of Anderson College (University).
Please don't tear out the "heart" of the CHOG by terminating this wonderful experience.

I don't get to Anderson every year now due to health problems.
I wish I could get a DVD of each of the services.

Sincerely,
Sharon Berner Class of 1969
