In recent years, a feature of the convention has been live tapings of ViewPoint, the English-language program of Christians Broadcasting Hope (CBH), hosted by Jim Lyon, pastor of Madison Park Church of God, Anderson, Indiana. This afternoon, Lyon hosts Fouad Saddi, national leader of the Church of God in Lebanon.

In 1946, Anderson College student Richard Lee Meishchke was working part-time at station WHBU, Anderson, Indiana, when he began to dream about the possibility of a radio voice for the Church of God. He approached W. Dale Oldham, then pastor of Park Place Church of God, about the possibility of producing a national radio program.

For over three years, the staff of CBH have been praying, dreaming, planning, working, and acting to bring about a new broadcast of hope in the Hindi language. May 3, 2007, at 8:45 AM EDT (in the United States), will see the culmination of that effort.

With a landmass larger than the continental United States, with 185 million people (making it the world’s fifth most populous nation), and with the world’s eighth largest economy (and growing), Brazil is an emerging colossus, ranked with India and China in the first tier of developing nations.  Brazil shares a border with ten countries in South America (every country except Chile and Ecuador) and owns some of the planet’s most spectacular Atlantic beachfront. 

Brazilians consider their country a world unto itself. And with good reason. ViewPoint will take you to this most extraordinary part of the world in the coming weeks—from the stunning summit of the Sugar Loaf mountain in Rio de Janeiro to the breathtaking wonder of Iguassu Falls (where three nations converge: Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay).
