Disaster Relief Efforts

Disaster Relief in Carrier Mills, IL

From late February through early March 2012, severe weather broke out across the Midwest, resulting in loss of life and damage to homes and structures. First Church of God in Carrier Mills, Illinois suffered the direct hit of a tornado. The Disaster Relief Committee responded by sending $3,000 to Illinois Ministries of the Church of God to assist with their relief efforts. Since the destruction, the church has worshiped in a temporary meeting place—until now.

On October 19, Church of God Ministries received an e-mail from Pastor John Neace, who issued the following statement: “We are pleased to report that we have now moved back into our church facilities and are happy to be ‘home.’ There are a few things left to do, but the facilities look great. Through this seven plus months, the church has worked together, praying for one another and learning better how to serve God and our community. We are so very thankful for all the phone calls, e-mails, cards, letters, gifts, and the encouragement of our state pastor, Eric Livingston, through this time. To God be the glory! Great things he has done!”

Hurricane Isaac Relief

Seven years ago, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf area of the United States, most notably, New Orleans. On August 28, thousands of families in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississipi felt the devastating effects of Hurricane Isaac. In the midst of violent winds, torrential rains, and massive flooding, they look to a concerned and caring nation for help.

Pray for those affected by Hurricane Isaac.

Church of God Ministries has already been in contact with Regional Pastors serving in the path of the hurricane, and early reports estimate the number of lives affected in the millions.
